Why would you make your kid ride the bus for 30 min? Just use kiss n ride.

Getting out at 4:25 pm doesn’t make sense for middle schoolers - they have more time consuming homework. And they wouldn’t be able to do any sports or activities. That is why E makes more sense - MS will get 30 extra minutes of sleep and still have their after school activities. Many elementary schools are already homework free so those students can get out later.
My middle schooler rarely has homework. They do all their work in class. Do you even have a middle schooler?
My MS kid rarely has homework but he has friends who always have homework. Some kids can’t get the work done in class and have to finish at home. The notices posted on schoology seem to indicate that it is a decent number of kids.
So we are going to ruin school for elementary kids by sending them to school until 4:30 PM, and mess up high school schedules of the kids who have hours of real homework, whose grades actually count for college, and whose sport/musicals/concerts/jobs already finish at 10:00 PM or later, to aapease a small group of middle school parents whose kids screw around in class not doing their (easy) school work, for 2 quick years of inconvenience?
Only this school board could be so short sighted and foolish.
Kids will adjust. It’s only 30 minutes.
Nope.
Guve middle school the schedule that gets them home at 5PM.
Nope. Not gonna happen as they need the after school activities program. Elementary school kids can get home later as they have no homework and no classes they count toward their GPAs. Half the kids are already at SACC or some after school activity.
Middle schools gpas don't matter.
Plus, it is just 2 years.
In middle school, like many students, my child has taken Algebra I, Geometry, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2. That's four high school credits that contribute to high school GPA. I beg to differ that middle school GPAs don't matter.

The issue not being addressed with schedule E is the morning childcare issue now created. Working parents can fork over extra money for before care if they can find it or leave young kids alone at home to walk to the bus stop/school on their own? They should just leave it as is especially since the ES schedule is for 7 years
This. ES is actually 8 years as most ES have preschools. We have 3-4 year olds in headstart all day. Childcare is a huge problem and an astronomical cost. But also, these kids getting home at 5:30 is ridiculous.
The best options are to keep as it is or c2 which puts middle school last. Either schedule sucks. The later will give them extra sleep.

My high school DD when she was at Longfellow MS, she rarely did homework at home. Kids were given time to do them during Lancer Time ( study hall/ free period).
Carson. You do realize that there are all sorts of kids with different abilities. 2E kids who are smart and capable but struggle with attention or low processing speeds. Kids who are of average intelligence but hard workers challenging themselves. Kids with LDs who learn differently and take a bit more time to complete work. And yes, there are kids who socialize or goof off in class and their study time who bring work home.
It is crazy to me that so many parents on this board assume that their kids experience is everyones experience. My kid rarely has homework but I know that he has friends who are bringing work home to complete. Some of those kids are getting all As some are not. Kids are different. They have different abilities and drives.
