Why would women not be worrying about this?

We’re a dual fed family. Our total cost of Valentine’s Day this year was probably $30. But *especially* in this uncertain time, why wouldn’t we do something for the most important people in our lives??

I love Valentine’s Day like I love all other holidays. Traditions and rituals are fun, and they add little spurts of joy to the rhythm of the seasons. I got a beautiful bouquet delivered and some other small meaningful gifts.

We don't do Valentines day. We haven't for decades. My MIL however did send me flowers for Valentines day this year. It was a nice surprise.

Counterpoint: if you’re an adult in a romantic partnership where your partner can’t spend $0.99 to buy you a card and the 15 minutes it would take to write something truly thoughtful, you need to get a better relationship.

And model higher expectations for your kid.

Meanwhile a colleague of mine flirts with me hardcore and I suspect got me something. Sigh. It’s hard not to start an affair when H puts in zero effort and this other guy pays SO much attention to me.

I know reality is colleague would also behave the same way in a relationship because that’s what men do. Once it’s locked down, no need to put in any effort. But still.

Enjoy your life of running from man to man who buys your box with a trinket.

PP. God, I wish. A life of exciting, passionate liaisons, where I can bail as soon as the guy gets lazy, sounds so much better than 50 years of indifference from one man.

Maybe once the kids grow up. Who knows.

Have you made any real effort to try to change this dynamic with your spouse?

DH didn’t buy me roses or chocolate but he cleaned the house (he was home because our son is sick), did the dishes, did all my laundry washed and folded, stocked the fridge for the weekend and ordered dinner from my favorite Thai place. Best Valentine’s Day ever!

Nothing this year, but I might buy myself a pair of diamond earrings I have my eye on.

DH left for a work trip very early this morning. Left me flowers, nice card, and a very nice tennis bracelet. Looking forward to him coming home tomorrow.

Why do I keep thinking he will finally do something? I did remind my son to make sure to do something nice for his girlfriend because it really stinks to be forgotten.

This makes me sad for you. Go do something nice for yourself!

I dunno. Down below she says she wants to divorce him. But she’s thinking the guy she’s that unhappy with might send flowers? Feels like a self inflicted injury.

My best vday gift was from a guy that made me a strawberry cake. My favorite flavor. He remembered!. So sweet. We had only been together a month.
