The next couple bands are less likely to deposit substantial snow in the District and inner suburbs due to path and the fact that the snow is getting wetter as the day goes on so that it won't accumulate as well as the very dry, powdery snow from early this morning.

Looks like average total in the district is likely to be around 6 inches. Not a bust at all but not the 8-12 inches that was being predicted last night. A solid showing for DC which almost never gets snow anymore!

Yes, we're in bust scenario, barely meeting the predicted minimum snowfall, but I'm still happy with my 5 inches in Bethesda. There should be coastal influence that backfills a little snow later on today.

Hey, more snow to look forward to later this month!

And bonus to all the people eager for schools and businesses to reopen - maybe we'll actually have school this week!

Compromises.

Do you know how time works? It's going to snow all day and into the night. I'm in Glover Park DC, right near you, and it's coming down at a steady clip.

Not a bust.

I'd say we were about 5 inches as of 9am, it's still coming down but not sure how much it's adding to snow totals because it's getting wetter/sleetier.

In DC so I suspect some heat island effect is at play. I think we'll wind up with 6 or 7 inches total.

Which is fine by me. My kid gets to go sledding and play in the snow (rare treat) but our car won't be buried for the next two weeks. Win-win.

Curious how much people are actually getting. The totals in the weather app are much lower than reported by the CWG.

I’m in eastern Loudoun near the FFX line and Reston. I was expecting to wake up to 7-8+ inches and instead I think we have about 4. Maybe 5. It’s not as much as I expected.

Do people think we’re likely to lose power in MoCo with this storm?

It's hard to predict where a tree branch might fall, but I expect some will.

I hadn't realized how much heat the Loudoun co data centers generate.
