Blair is not the crown jewel of MCPS.
Blair Magnet, a small school within a school, is the diamond in the (very) rough.
It's at Blair specifically because Blair is a bad place, to boost Blair's stats.

Blair is not only the crown jewel of MCPS, it's the crown jewel of the whole state of Maryland.
I know the truth hurts and you're dying inside.

Not the previous poster but this poster is clearly trolling or oblivious. It not even top 5 in the county and most parents with means pay 7 figures to avoid it just like all the other east county schools. Sure some bus in from nicer areas for a program but they would go to Kennedy if that is where it was. They do that despite Blair not because of it. If it was desirable, Blair real estate wouldn’t be the cheapest school zone inside the beltway including most of Va. It’s only desirable to poor people and middle class who are afraid of PG and can’t do better. Look at the reputation for eastern middle school, that’s a large chunk of Blair’s general population… that is before them go to general pop.

Keep posting your fake bravado and pride, it shows you’re the one dying inside that just about everyone looks down on it.

Before you can fix a problem you have to acknowledge that a problem exists. Poolesville is the best in MCPS overall, likely followed by Whitman, Wootton, Churchill, RM, etc. In fact, the last time SAT scores were released by MCPS, blacks at Poolesville had a higher score than blacks at Blair. As a magnet, Blair barely made rankings this year and as a school overall is in the low middle. The poster who was unhappy at RHS may want to consider moving to RM, which has higher rankings.

The reason why MCPS has to cheerlead Blair is because of all the money sunk into it's programs. If the truth was widely known, my guess is many parents would feel it's a waste of money compared to the bang-for-the-buck at other schools.

I think half of RHS parents are unhappy about the school I’ve heard, dunno why but I’ve seen negative feedback to be a bit more common than usual.

I've actually seen and heard the opposite and I live in the RHS area. Yes, some go private for middle or high school but plenty of involved parents with smart kids choose to send their kids to Rockville. And they really like it there, both the kids and the parents. I have a child starting there next year and based on the feedback I've heard, I have no reservations at all.

There is a huge variation not only in diversity but also quality amongst the schools that feed into Rockville. There are some neighborhoods with great elementary schools, there are others that are over by the Rockville industrial park. Linkin Park neighborhood, others where the elementary schools are almost all Hispanic. There are also a large number of illegal subletters in Rockville HS, so many of the elementary schools are overcrowded, but not paying taxes. So, this could be source of discrepancy. There is Rockville HS then there is the Rockville HS school zone. It also explains why there are large number of older teens from other countries that came here to work but are required to attend school with zero scholastic interest or English ability, that end up doing aweful things in the bathrooms.

Not true.

Meadow Hall ES has a 40% ELD rate and has four portable classrooms. I think you have are having issues with Truth. Quite frankly its absurd that these issues weren't addressed in the last planning phases.

What was the excuse? The excuse they used was, Oh it's adjacent to a park. They can handle high occupancy. What they really meant, was they wanted to spend money over on the west side building a nice new high school.

Why does Meadow Hall have four portables when their enrollment is only 12 students over capacity?

+1. And they should benefit from being such a small school.

Schools tend to suck when their out of control kids ruin it for everyone else and make more and more kids out of control bc they see the schoolhas no rules and the teachers get in trouble when they report infractions.

I thought they tried to sign a petition to rename RM and some other schools (if I remember Wootton, Magruder, and Churchill too), either way if RM gets renamed to Rockville, it wouldn’t sound pleasing, Rockville being renamed to Norbeck kinda makes sense I guess.

Not true.

Blair is supposed to be the crown jewel of MCPS, but even there students are involved with a ghost gun, charged with attempted murder, racist hate incident, student killed - you name it.

Name just about any school in MCPS, and you'll be hard pressed to find a school that's safe and without serious violence, drugs, or other issues.

Tell me which school in MD produces the most NMSFS? The most math Olympiads? Science Olympiads? Sciences Bowls? Most Intel/Regeneron scholars? Most ivy-bounds? The most decorated school in all of Maryland?

Idiot. There's not a school that's called "Blair magnet HS". There's Blair HS. You graduate from Blair HS. The school is ranked as Blair HS.

Blair is the best!

Hmmhmmm..now give me a reason why?

Plenty was mentioned above.
