I’m pp just back to add that this kind of thinking prevails when MAGA don’t understand economics or believe economists.

I have worked in four government agencies int he past. I have seen so many people come in and browse the internet all day and take long lunches in the cafeteria.

Let's get real. You know it. I know it. Some people literally have four hours of work a week that they stretch out. No word of a lie.

Here is what we can do right away

Immigration Enforcement: DHS (ICE) and DOJ (EOIR) handle different aspects of immigration. Combining these could streamline processes and improve coordination.

Environmental Protection: EPA (pollution control) and DOI (land conservation) have overlapping roles. Merging water quality and land conservation functions could enhance environmental strategies.

Nuclear Oversight: DOE (nuclear R&D) and NRC (safety regulation) both oversee nuclear activities. Unifying oversight may improve consistency and efficiency.

Transportation Safety: DOT sets policies, while NTSB investigates accidents. Increased collaboration could strengthen the implementation of safety recommendations.

Food Safety: FDA, USDA, and CDC each have roles in food safety. A unified agency could reduce duplication and enhance public health protections.

Streamlining these overlapping responsibilities could improve efficiency and service delivery across federal operations.

Everyone agrees cutbacks are needed. But total agency tear downs or mass firings are not. There are ways around it.
