Unless they are going to close 14th Street and Penna Ave in that area, I am not sure how that location is even remotely secure enough.

My sense is that this was an announcement made without any actual discussion, mostly to own the demise of USAID.

Steny Hoyer is mad now because he won’t get a building in Greenbelt named after him.

They did want a large, suburban campus which can be made more secure, but they also wanted to stay in DC. Trump wants them in DC, so in DC the FBI shall stay … I guess.

This is a pretty decent idea, tbh. The the Hoover building site can be rebuilt and the FBI can move back in.

Maybe they’ll move into the abandoned Peace Institute HQ on Constitution Ave (by the State Department)? That building would also make a nice DC outpost for Space X. But Trump has also had visions of a new palatial FBI HQ that would take inspiration from the architecture of Imperial Rome. That’s Trumps’ favored architectural style, and the reason he agreed to Amtrak’s takeover of the Penn Station redevelopment. Amtrak’s Trump appointed leadership now favors a plan to rebuild the old Imperial Rome-inspired station that was demolished in the 60s for Madison Square Garden. Trump could also then purchase the naming rights to the new Penn Station.
