Our neighborhood had lots of unsupervised tables. Not a single one was raided. Sounds like you need to move.

Church kids are some of the rudest ill ill-mannered children out there.

And given who they church just put into office I don't think they should be giving lessons on manners.

Not sure what church kids you know because the ones I know tend to be the most polite. And I stopped going to church thirty years ago due to significant differences with the institution's direction.

It was right for the child (8!) to ask rather than assume. Maybe the other houses told the 10 year old to take what he likes out the bowl so he did that at your house. the norms of Halloween (a dying holiday) is not obvious.
