I was manning our table I caught them twice and two neighbors and my own table and politely asked them to only take a few pieces. I want to be generous but also want to have enough candy for the night. I don't think it's too much for kids to not grab candy. They will end up with lots of treats. I think especially sad because our neighborhood is generous and this left us scrambling for treats for the younger kids.
Our neighborhood had lots of unsupervised tables. Not a single one was raided. Sounds like you need to move.

Rich, kids are definitely more entitled that's for sure
Pretty sure this was meant to suggest the richer kids had better manner than the poor ones.

One kid in particular took one of each full size (4 total full size candy bars)— while his mother stood there and said nothing. This was AFTER I said just one. This kid is 8.
My neighbor told me kids shoved their hands into her basket rather than waiting to be given candy by her. When she told one boy to wait until she gives it to him he said “no I want to pick out the ones I want.” This kid is 10.
What the freaking F is wrong with these kids and why aren’t they being taught common sense etiquette, manners, how to be polite?
I was honestly so disgusted.

Church is abhorrent but it did exist to teach basic manners and enforce social norms. People behaved better when they feared going to Hell.
I am not even being sarcastic with this.
No.
Church kids are some of the rudest ill ill-mannered children out there.
And given who they church just put into office I don't think they should be giving lessons on manners.
Not sure what church kids you know because the ones I know tend to be the most polite. And I stopped going to church thirty years ago due to significant differences with the institution's direction.

Anonymous wrote:Are you seriously complaining about this? Do understand that every door they knock on, the owner receives them differently and may have different expectations. It was right for the child (8!) to ask rather than assume. Maybe the other houses told the 10 year old to take what he likes out the bowl so he did that at your house. the norms of Halloween (a dying holiday) is not obvious.
