I agree with PP that’s it’s probably more meaningful to cut your Amazon subscription if you are able. (I know we are all a little dependent now.). Bezos doesn’t make money from WaPo—it’s a vanity project, and people cutting subscriptions won’t bother him at all. He’ll just do another round of layoffs.

In some ways, this is the best result. If WaPo endorsed Harris, everyone would shrug and it would change zero minds. By bezps overplaying his hand, this is getting a lot of attention—the editorial board is starngkng strong and looks good, and everyone is reminded what is at stake—namely, the risk of electing a president that demands loyalty and punishes those who criticize him, with a billionaire class that does his bidding. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, America.


I can only assume you’re being willfully obtuse.

Of course newspapers are owned by rich egomaniacs. Most businesses are.

He is directly interfering with the newspaper’s content. He overriding editorial decisions. It’s out in the open. The Post had a great, historic run, but it’s done. Those who stay will be complicit.

Yeah, but it’s clear that the owner has bent the knee to the orange man. Who knows what other positions and reporting he has or will kibosh. The owner is no independent and he’s interfering in the paper’s operations- as his his right as owner.

But they can’t be viewed as independent any longer. They are compromised.


When I feel that the majority of news articles are compromised, I will cancel. I’ve done that with other media.

Yeah, but the thumb is now clearly on the scale. It’s clear he’s directly manipulating things, and that can’t help but bleed into the reporting. Reporters and editors will self-censor. Stories will be softened or killed outright.

There are obviously many many people who support Trump. Now they have another outlet for their “news”.
