I would buy them. I wish I had bought more stuff like that when I was in my late teens/early twenties. I remember this suede skirt that I loved that was $150 and I never bought it.
Now, I’m 41. I have the money, but I don’t care about that stuff anymore. I wish there was something out there that would make me as happy as a $150 skirt (or $500 pair of boots) would have at 18.

BUY THE BOOTS! It's her birthday present too since she returned those. She is now an adult and can learn to take care of nice things. Frye boots will last and she will love it1 Go get the boots!

Be prepared for her to be upset that you didn’t get the color she wanted. I would be upset if I asked for a specific pair and my mother came back with a totally different color than I wante just to save some money.
For goodness sake, OP got her the color that she wanted. Her daughter *thought* about banana but ultimately decided the chestnut would be more of a keeper.
