The whole thing is so unbelievably stupid.
Shenandoah university applicants don't have and need APs, but UVA applicants do. Choose where to apply accordingly.
Do VTech or George Mason also require several APs from Northern VA students?
Not necessarily GMU. They are even offering an easier pathway to admissions for students from some Arlington HSes with a 3.25 GPA or over.
VT has gotten harder to get into though.

Things have changed significantly in the past 25 years. If you step into the College forum, you'll see a lot of parents that went to really good schools (including ivies) acknowledge that they wouldn't get in these days.
UVA is explicit about the 'rigor' box being checked for them to consider a student. It doesn't matter what their potential major, they have to take APs in all the core courses (English, History, Science, Math). Hence kids taking 15 APs just to be competitive at freaking UVA.

No.
Bull.
Absolutely true.
UVA wants the most rigorous course load for your high school.
For almost all of FCPS, the most rigorous course load includes AP History.
APUSH or AP World or both needed for UVA?
