Interesting, I suppose it’d be difficult to actually get solid info on this without launching a lot of awkward conversations…

Were more students not cast in a role this year? I heard some chatter last year about the new director wanting to cut back.

I don't think TWSB is prone to drama, think people were just joking. Hope all the dancers enjoy the season!

Thank you! Never thought my post will cause so much drama. We have long moved on. It has been 3 days but people are still responding!?

Now the jewels... I guess “big ballet schools “ are proned to drama.

The dancers are divided into six different casts named after jewels (Ruby, Sapphire, Pearl, etc). Some are double cast. There is always speculation about which are considered the "best" casts.

I think there was a switch up last year and Emerald/Pearl ended up with a lot of the “choice” shows.

+1 haha! The other bit was asked and answered. She got the message, let it go. Moving on …. Do we know when the jewel casts will be announced? I still don’t quite understand why they can’t figure this out when they announce roles.

obviously because they have to see who the GOOD dancers are and put them in Ruby/Sapphire duh

Its a question for PRE audition - they make the commitment perfectly clear.
Its a pain in the neck to do this NOW after casting

This really is not that big of a deal.

+1 . Seriously. Get a grip, be an adult, and avoid making this a big deal, especially for your DD. I can think of so many other ways to celebrate a bday outside a 4-6pm Saturday timeframe. If you have a tendency towards drama and making a big fuss over scheduling conflicts, this Nutcracker production is definitely not for your family. It's a well-run show with Donna at the helm, but things happen.
I hope you realize NOW that every kid, including yours, needs to be available for *every* performance, whether scheduled or not, because of the chance that your child will be called to sub-in for a kid who is sick. DD has had to sub at least once for the last couple of years bc dancers had the flu or COVID.
