There is no "getting permission" - the law is the law. The families involved had no standing to waive it, nor did the former president or his campaign staff.

It doesn’t mean anything if the families “supported” it or not. The law is the law.

In reality, the families were also breaking the law if they were colluding with Trump about using the cemetery footage for campaign ads. They had already made an ad for his campaign so it seems likely.

Why did they break the law against having cameras in section 60 and why did Trump break the law creating a campaign video and images there? Politics is supposed to be left at the gate when you enter the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. But we all know nothing is sacred to Trump. It’s all about what looks good for him. Grinning and thumbs up standing on the graves of soldiers. Disgusting.


Trump has zero emotional intelligence (to complement his lack of general intelligence). That he though a thumbs up and a smile was the appropriate pose says it all.
