I would love to see Daniel Wiffen win a gold for Ireland in the 800fr, to add to McSharry’s bronze in the 100br… Ireland afaik hasn’t medaled in swimming since Michelle Smith in 1996, who turned out to be a drug cheat. So I’m OK if he beats Bobby Finke for gold.
Thank you NBC

Yes!
As someone who is not athletic, competitive, or good under pressure, I am always amazed that there are people who willingly do this. I am such a chill, satisfied slug.![]()

American Katie Grimes places much lower.
Covid is starting to do the rounds of the swimming pool. I don't know about US swimmers, but Adam Peaty is down as well as an Australian 1500m swimmer who had to withdraw. Teams are resorting to masking again.

SMH and shame on the organizers. This has been a known problem for a long time and they’ve had months if not years to figure out a contingency plan. Plan B should have been to plan an alternative location for the triathlon in another body of water. They can surf in Tahiti, surely they could find another river or lake in France and plan the course around that. Not cut out 1/3 of the race! I feel bad for the athletes who may get screwed due to sheer incompetence.
When I saw all the heavy rain during the opening ceremony I had a feeling this would happen. They really needed relatively dry weather in the days leading up to the event.
