As simple as this statement is.....this poster hits it on the head. I won't go too much into my background, but you can read between the lines. For every club, a scout has to watch 2 age groups. The U17s and U19s, a portion of the U17s are too early to recruit and a portion of the U19s have already been recruited. This tells me that ENCL is laser focused on making the college coach's life easier and the results are that he/she can see more recruitable players across more clubs.
How is that easier and a better option for college recruiting than MLS Next tournaments and showcases?
Just because they are the mighty MLS doesn't mean that their U17 players magically all graduate in a single year. they don't. MLS has the exact same issue as ECNL. No doubt they will follow suit now that USYS and ECNL has streamlined and gotten rid of the trapped player mishap. However. MLS is less focussed on college recruiting, more on pro where graduating year doesn't matter. But MLS next...
When did college coaches/recruiters not know the graduation of the players they're interested in?
Are you inventing a non existent problem to fit your narrative?
Look you clearly don't understand the issue which coaches find annoying. When a coach goes to watch a game, the 22 players they are watching on the field are not all eligible for a single recruiting class that coach may be focussed on filling. From a pure logistics perspective, that is just overall a PIA for coaches as it means cross referencing roster or do unnecessary follow up work that wouldn't be necessary if every player on the field was eligible for the same recruiting class. It's been a problem in need of a solution for a while. Unnecessarily complex for leagues like ECNL where the focus is primarily on college recruiting vs. pro. This willl streamline.
Nonsense!
College coaches aren't showing up blind at a field and trying to find a player.
They show up already knowing who they're coming to watch.
If someone previously not on their radar stands out, they simply ask the team for information on the player.
And what a total waste of their time when they track down the brochure, or do a Google search or call the coach and find out said player is wrong recruiting year- You all may not like what’s happening for whatever personal reasons you have but if college coaches weren’t complaining, ECnL would not be doing this- after all that is their value prop/ college recruiting. It’s in their best interest to keep coaches happy and coming back to tournaments.
Smart business move by ECNL to cater to coaches and remove current annoyance.

It still simplifies the issue of an instate school who wants to recruit 2 2026s from the same club that might be on different teams because of birth year. It allows them to wrap it up in one game and maximize their reach at events.
You must be dense.
You obviously don't know how college soccer recruiting actually works
You must think college coaches are dense 🤣
Is this an SYC coach trying to defend the GA again?
You’ve seriously got no clue.
You apparently think this is the movies where a coach is driving around with clipboards and his clothes in the backseat.
Driving from field to field watching random games and taking notes about players he's never heard of before
Before calling back to the athletic director from a roadside payphone
So - what’s simpler? A college coach going to a match to watch 2 specified 2026s on the same field? Or 1 playing in an 07 game and 1 playing in an 08 game?
Do they get to see more scheduled players throughout the day because they aren’t having to navigate 2 age groups? Or do they see less games?
Go back to elementary school and work on those problem solving skills.
Because watching 2 prospects in two separate games has been killing college recruiters for soccer all these years.
As said by a PP, you're inventing a non existent problem.
Could be more convenient isn't a problem resolution.
Is it a problem? Or is it expanding the opportunity for your players to be seen?
Your Springfield is really showing. It’s making you look really dumb.
you're obviously a girl parent
Are boys in the DMV even recruited to college anymore?? Of course people only care about the girls side.
DMV is not popular recruiting for most sports anymore. If you listen to the college coaches, they recruit based not just on the athlete, but the family. And DMV parents are awful compared to the rest of the nation.
“Do you know who I am?” (“Scheduler for no-name congressman”) types are Coach and team nightmares.
Such BS
You must have an inferiority complex

You know where they recruit for sports? Everywhere. Most coaches do not meet family until quite late in the process. So no your post is not correct. And no a college coach could care less who anyone's parents were.

Anonymous wrote:Interesting that the best soccer program in the area has only sent 5-6 players to top college programs and has zero players signed to a homegrown contract with DC United. They didn’t make any homegrown signings last year either. That should put the odds of a college or pro contract into proper perspective.
