^By the way, my kid had very similar stats to your son's and also applied ED. Seems like that was the right move, as far as strategy.

Congrats! My kid is a current freshman and loves it. Kid ended up tagging along on younger sibling's tour of Georgetown and surprisingly really liked Georgetown too, which I wouldn't have expected and makes me think the Georgetown tour wasn't truly representative of the atmosphere, though ultimately maybe all top schools have some students of all types; this kid is nerdy in a STEM way. In his case, Northwestern is clearly a fit. Texted me last night blabbing about a possible double major, maybe staying an extra year for masters, etc. It's a cold week for wind chill, but the vibe I am getting from him is that he's very happy there.
