You mean kids paid. Yes, very funny that kids were punished by loss of teachers.

Kids don't pay taxes. Their parents do.

They paid with the loss of their education.

Principals are in a different union than teachers.

Yes. Adam looked further into the MCAAP contract language:

Yup. I figured this had to do with MCAAP and its contract.

While people often fault the MCEA as being the downfall of MCPS and being the most powerful union in the system, it's really MCAAP that holds the most cards and influences. Principals are kings and queens of their respective school communities with an alarming amount of unchecked power to do or not do whatever they want. It's scary.

There should be a denial for legal financial protection when the principal is found to be acting with moral turpitude.

Wow. Does anyone with an understanding of either employment or union law want to weigh in.

Were they obligated to pay his fees by union regulations, maybe? That sounds far-fetched but I don't know why else they would be on the hook.

Adam Pagnucco is doing good work. WaPo should've been following this thread since they broke the story.

This woman should have received a much higher settlement. I can only hope that more women will come out and file lawsuits against him.

I'm surprise that there aren't more victims suing MCPS.

Their lawyer just need to threaten to put MCPS officials on the stand, and they will win settlement.

We don’t trust MCPS to follow confidentiality laws. Everyone knows everyone’s business and you still get blacklisted for having boundaries and sticking up for yourself. Just look at how some people have been treated during involuntary transfer season. Individual schools have too much power and the many positions at Co that are supposed to oversee them have a carousel of changing personnel.

Understood.

I hope one victim near retirement age will come forward, sue MCPS, depose all the people involved, win a big jury award, and retire happily in a better place.
