PP here. I don't give a fig about WashU, and I'm totally okay with people expressing varying opinions on whatever school. If you want to, for example, criticize WashU for traditionally catering to the rich, that's fair. But posting verifiably incorrect facts does not constitute a "perspective." It's intentionally misleading and creepy.
And I don't think you've actually grasped the concept of astroturfing. The point is that it doesn't involve the exchange of several different "perspectives" (plural) from several different people. This is a single person continually expressing the same perspective as if several different people were expressing that perspective. I don't see how that does anyone any good.

Astroturfing is where a single person or small number of people use internet anonymity to create the appearance of the "grass roots" sentiment of many. It usually involves situations where, for example, a new restaurant would post positive but fake reviews of itself on Yelp. But it fits here.
I'm genuinely curious what the anti-WashU poster's deal is. There are places and colleges in America that I'm not wild about. But I can imagine having so much antipathy for a particular college to justify so many posts with such vigor. If OP wants to convince me not to have my kid apply to WashU, perhaps he/she can explain what WashU did to hurt him/her so badly. No sane person would otherwise do what he/she is doing on DCUM.

WashU hasn't yet released their ED info for this cycle or last year's cycle. But for 21/22, WashU ED admissions rate was 26%. (https://wustl.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/wustl-cds-2022-2023.pdf). I doubt it jumped 14%, which is contrary to T30 trends. Notably, OP never responded to the post above.

WashU has 2 rounds of ED. For class of 2027, the combined ED rate was 26%. For this year the rumored combined rate is 30+% with 50% ED1 which is more or less verified.

My take it is a hard school to keep track of because the name is so generic. A couple of top students my DC's year knew to apply, because of automatic merit scholar awards. Both were flown out at the school's expense for an admitted student's day. Neither took the offer because it was still very expensive. One went to a state school. The other went to Harvey Mudd, even though that was more expensive still. It's a school that caters to private school kids, where its cache has a longer shelf life.
