A lot of travel clubs only look seriously at players trying out that made all-stars. It's brought up after tryouts when you talk to the coaches when offers go out in the u-littles ages.

Any reasonable parent should pass on this Valor tournament if their DC is invited. It's really not worth wasting your fathers day weekend. This is mostly just a dog and pony show for coaches and their kids and their kids friends. It's the same people year in year out... the same kids and the same yeller coaches... the same faces again and again twice a year... yipee! Instead of trying to put together a real talented team and play in FPYC it's just a s-show for a select few that will proudly where their sombrero medal and display the sombrero trophy in their man cave. Congratulations!!!

My DC was invited and we declined.

I'd take those 2 prizes over any crap medal they have to offer. Even if a team wins 1st place in this joke of a tournament can they really be proud? It's such a hollow empty victory. Any team winning the FPYC tournament knows that they won something special and can be proud of their team. This however is a complete joke. I wouldn't even brag to my dog about winning this tournament.

If only 2-3 teams play then do only one team will not get sombrero medals? Lol

I would throw that thing in the trash before I even walked off the field. No need for my kid to bring that junk home.

Seriously don't waste your time time on this tournament. As was made crystal clear there well probably only be 3 (at most) lame teams (cya, sya and poor loudoun was forced into this sham).

Those are the team fees but they are still really high for a rec tournamenr. Our rec side holds a fall rec tournament and charges around $300 a team and still makes money.

Anonymous wrote:$800 for rec all stars? LMAO.
FPYC fees:
8U
$380.00
9U $430.00
10U $430.00
11U $480.00
12U $480.00
13U $530.00
14U $530.00
16U $580.00
19U $600.00

Valor fees (pay more for less!)
Boys and Girls

U8 (2016) - $420
U9 (2015) - $470
U10 (2014) - $470
U11 (2013) - $520
U12 (2012) - $520
U13 (2011) - $570
U14 (2010) - $570
U16 (2009/2008) - $625
U19 (2007/2006/2005) - $645

Wow really? I mean, one season of rec soccer costs less than half that. Why on earth would people pay for this? What a joke!!!

Honestly it’s not a great tournament but if this is her first all stars then let her play. She sounds athletic (playing multiple sports and making all stars) and if she does well she may be a good candidate for travel. After a few rec all star tournaments we gave my DC a chance at travel and they are now loving it. Play her but keep expectations of the tournament and organizers low. But keep her hopes high.

I would pass. Its poorly run. There are better ways to spend Fathers Day weekend. They will lose all their games to Loudoun team by 15 goals.

+1 What’s the point of attending the worst tournament in the middle of June. School is out and the kids should be done with the season not wasting time and money on this train crash of a tournament.
