Yes! Weather experts please weigh in on the latest forecast...
Non-experts need no permission to weigh in as well
Gonna be closed Friday.
Sigh. Yeah. They aren’t going to risk it with the timing of the storm even though we’ll probably only get an inch.

In Arlington, I think the guidelines instruct parents to consider any medical, emotional, or maturity issues when it comes to leaving kids alone. It could be a cognitive issue, or it could just be a kid who has a track record of not being responsible when left alone.
So exactly what I said in a lot fewer words.
And in a non-offensive way.
If you are still struggling with this I imagine that you offend people often. Low EQ or a B?

And you keep on digging that hole.
You're down here with me! You way over reacted to a completely truthful comment and you know it.

It’s shocking but common sense prevailed.

That said, there will likely be a delay or closure tomorrow, since ACPS closes for anything and everything nowadays.
I'm talking about APS but I live in Alexandria- so referenced the roads there. I just got in from a run and the side roads in Del Ray are NOT fine.
Are you a teacher or do you work for APS?
No, just a random Alexandria resident wondering of the status of Arlington Public Schools.
Yes, I am a teacher in Arlington.

+1. Fairfax’ll close, then APS will close. I can only think of 1 time in the past 6 years when APS didn’t follow FCPS.
Yeah sorry about that. It is because of teachers like me and lack of subs. I can’t afford Arlington so I take off when my FCPS kids have snow days. They can’t legally stay home alone.
There is no legal home alone age in Virginia.
If they are kindergarten, sure dicey. But age 8 is 100% home alone.
Child Protection Services of Fairfax County 100% disagrees with you.
Age Guidelines
8 years old and younger should always be in the care of a responsible person. Children this age should never be left unsupervised in homes, cars, playgrounds or yards.
9-10 years old may be ready to be left unsupervised up to 1.5 hours during daylight and early evening hours.
11-12 years old may be ready to be left unsupervised up to 3 hours during daylight and early evening hours.
13-15 years old may be ready to be left unsupervised more than three hours but not overnight.
16 years old and older may be ready to be left unsupervised overnight for one to two days, with a plan in place.
Arlington doesn’t have the same laws.
They aren't laws, even in Fairfax. They are guidelines only, with no teeth. And they are written for idiot parents who are incapable of judging their own child's abilities.
Not really. It's a fraemwork established so noncompliant parents (ie bad ones) can be punished for not following them. Think custody disputes, security clearances, etc.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:How do we know what time the bus is coming? Is it just two hours after it normally does or can I call someone?
2hr delay. I mean, don't be surprised if busses are running late, but everything is pushed 2hrs.
