DP but I agree with this. I don’t think that PP is saying anything so controversial, simply that if you are spending that much money on a vacation you want it to feel luxurious and special, and it doesn’t.

Here’s the thing: WDW doesn’t necessarily have food that is miles better than the best places elsewhere, but it’s miles better than most theme park food. My husband loved the spare ribs. The waygu beef was also excellent.

That’s really my point.

Masaharu Morimoto is very well-regarded chef and the fact that he’s willing to open a restaurant at WDW speaks to the quality of the food you can find there.

My in laws live in Florida so there was an appeal to stop by. We just did a week there and the horrifically bad food and expenses and so I will not be back.

Where did you eat? Disney has at least one Michelin star restaurant.

It has exactly one, in the Grand Floridian hotel, and it is genuinely excellent. But apart from that, I have never had a good meal anywhere in Disney. I have had some overpriced mediocre meals, but nothing actually good. It’s ok because you don’t go for the food… but it’s just another thing that makes Disney less appealing to me personally.

Yak and Yeti
Morimoto Asia
Steakhouse 71
California Grill
Jiko
Takumi-Tei
Narcoosee’s

Most of them are at resorts and Epcot. MK generally has subpar food, and a lot of people who fail to do research eat at some quick serve place there and think it’s representative of the food overall.

I knew when I had kids I'd probably be begged to make this trip at some point lest I deprive them of a key American childhood experience. Leaned in and sucked it up, but that's it. Now that you got it over with, no one will make you go back, so definitely DON'T!

Actually, I think the people criticizing Disney and saying that they would die of embarrassment are the ones who are worried about what is cool and having pictures from some "sophisticated" location for their social media.

We started taking our kids to Disney from toddlerhood, because where else is fun for parents when they have a bunch of little kids? You have fun things to do for every age, a wide variety of food that caters to adults and kids and when kids start crying, no one glares at you. We continue visiting because that is a place where everyone has happy memories and can relax and just be "goofy."

We also travel to other places and I can guarantee that my kids have learned about the world, its history, its art and its nature. We can afford to do both.
I will agree, though, with posters who say that the experience has degraded and the money required to have a decent experience is getting out-of-hand. But there is nothing inherent to Disney theme parks that makes it less worthy of vacation.
