That phrase is from the Declaration of Independence, where it is stated that the Creator has endowed all men with inalienable rights including those. The Constitution's Bill of Rights for all citizens that the federal government may not infringe is where 2A is found.

Provide for the common defense: Again a fail, since we have less security and peace of mind as a society

Promote the general Welfare: How is it promoting the general welfare to have mentally ill people able to pass a background check to buy a gun? How is it promoting the general welfare to have tons of guns circulated in an underground market place so that felons can easily bypass the system and buy guns? Huge fail.

Secure the blessings of liberty: How do we have liberty when we have to worry about locking down our children in their schools? That is not liberty.

Ourselves and our posterity: Again, where is our posterity if our children (our posterity) are being gunned down in schools?

The current interpretation of 2A has trampled all over the core intent of the Constitution as laid out in the preamble. Something HAS to give. And Heller, NFA and other things should be showing us the way, that 2A *is not* absolute. It needs to give way.

To Republicans it's not a gun problem...it's a mental health problem. But just because a "good guy with a gun" has no mental health issues now is no guarantee that they'll have no mental health issues in the future (and they'll still own that gun).

The Sheriffs took oaths to protect and serve yet gun violence has surged. So they are no longer protecting and serving, and should be impeached.
