+100 if my kid is dumb enough to get hooked on drugs and OD that's on them.

But seriously, why do we keep asking this question…

There was a time that I considered this but when I researched the subject I couldn’t yet get it easily and then life happened and now it’s months later.

I would love it if EPIPENS were free, OTC, and available in vending machines. I just paid $300 for two sets of EPIPENS, which are not even available if someone is going into anaphylaxis on flights.

I will probably put Narcan in a college emergency kit but don’t presently have any on hand. Kids just started high school and don’t go out.

A couple of years ago, I came home and a guy was passed out in the street in front of my house. It turned out he’d been in a fight, but it could have been an OD and it took EMS and cops over 10 minutes to arrive after those of us calling were on hold for 5 minutes. It was scary.

Did you administer Narcan to him or what?

Maybe I’m old at 41, but the parties I went to, I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there and so I took many strides to not be caught. One of those was not doing drugs. Kids can hang out when parents are home in small groups, but parties should be totally out of the question. Then maybe you don’t need any narcan.

That’s what I was wondering. I wouldn’t let my high schooler attend a party to begin with.

Just a quick note to say that, while I wouldn’t carry narcan with me, Good Samaritan laws generally protect a lay person administering medical care such as narcan, CPR, or an AED from liability if they’re conducting themselves consistent with what a reasonable person would do in the same situation. So if you do CPR on someone who broke their arm and is conscious you might be in trouble.
