There are many actors who nail the American English accent because they have to play American roles. It doesn’t mean they are “exaggerating” their native accent.

My friend is dealing with this sort of situation now. She and her partner got together about six years ago, when she was 36 and he was 33. They talked about kids and he insisted that he didn't want any. (She was ambivalent). Now she's 42 and he's changed his mind and doesn't understand why that would be difficult or why she's angry.

Sofia comes from a very different background than Lauren. She's also far more beautiful and not gratuitously using sex in every pose and/or outing. She doesn't come across as desperate for attention.

And he himself was already not that young when they started dating. Why didn’t he have kids before 40? Also I’d be careful about all the talk about her fertility when he has been using HGH for a decade.


SO many men don't even think about having children until they're in their mid-forties, or even later! You'd be amazed how many men, even 50+, talk about "maybe having kids some day". And contrary to what the fertility-obsessed poster thinks, they don't really think about women's ages until that time. I personally know of about three relationships where the man turned to the woman when they were both in the 45-55 range and said "hey, let's have a kid", and she's like "um, honey, that ship has kind of sailed for me". Then he's like "oh really?"

Some men are serious about family planning from an early age and think about these things. But a lot of them just drift through life not thinking about children in any concrete way. We see this all the time in the Relationship Forum where women in their thirties complain that their DH isn't getting serious about TTC. These guys know how old their wives are; they just take a laissez faire attitude toward the whole thing because they can. And it's not even like they're thinking that they'll just ditch her when they're ready to be fathers. They have no foresight at all.


I have no idea what happened in this case, but yes some men think this way. Most men who really want kids marry in their 20's or at least get serious about finding a wife when they hit 30 and realize they're still single. But some men just never grow up and aren't serious about kids. They have this vague idea about kids, but don't really take steps towards this. They're more Peter Pan types though. I know a lot of them who talk about it but never settle down and do it. These aren't men who would make husbands or fathers.

Men really shouldn't start having kids in their 50's. They're too old and will likely die before the child is fully launched, plus the older age of the father correlates to special needs in the kids.

Joe went after HER. Sofia had been in a long term relationship when he first saw her. As soon as he heard she was single, he was after her to date him. She'll be fine. I don't blame her for not wanting a child in her forties. Men don't have to worry about what pregnancy does to their bodies and career prospects. She has a wonderful son and will have plenty of male admirers.
