One teacher and one staff member are still there after coming over from BASIS DC when it was founded in 2016. You can check the website. This potential problem hasn't been mentioned anywhere as far as I know.

If grades were depressed, plenty of parents and kids would have screamed bloody murder.

BIM is owned by Spring Education Group, which is controlled by Primavera Holdings Limited based in Hong Kong. Fred Hu (former Goldman Sachs investment banker who moved to Hong Kong) is the head of Primavera. You don't get to be or stay the head of a big, influential, financial powerhouse in communist China unless you play well with Xi Jinping. Last time I checked, China (Xi Jinping) is actively trying to undermine the US, including extensive attempts at hacking and let's not forget the "stray weather" balloons that were flying over the country a few months ago.

I'm sorry. This is not a jab at BIM as a school. I'm sure the teachers and administrators are doing a great job. Nonetheless, there is a direct connection between its "owner" and the government of China. I would not send my child there. I also don't think it's a stretch to be concerned about the technology provided by the school.

And the fact that admins from BIM have attempted to prop up the school in this forum? Is their propaganda really a surprise once you know who is pulling the strings?

Then why dont the Basis kids make a statistical dent on Ivy matriculations like the other schools in the area? I know that is not the only measure of success but it is notable that the other schools do show up to some extent and Basis does not.

50% of BIM seniors go to a Top 25 university. And that is with few athletic recruits and legacies. Those are impressive results.

Most Ivy admissions at the Big 3 consists of athletic recruits and legacies.

Current BIM parents here.
We do know this year, almost 2/3 of the seniors will go to top 25 US news ranked colleges or top LACs.

How are you able to assure that? Also, where are the opinions of the former families in this 9-page thread? All the negative comments I see are generic ones trying to make a great school look bad, except the one about HOS changes before 2021 and turnover based on the school’s faculty webpage going back to 2020 (which is definitely from a former faculty, or an insane person).

Because I know quite a few people who had less than stellar experiences, some of whom post here. Not on this thread, but on others. I also know someone (you?) continuously indicates that only this supposed former disgruntled teacher posts. In my experience there were pros and cons, but to imply any con at any school comes only from one person is naive unless it is literally the same exact posts.

There is also legitimate concern about it being a for-profit company owned by a Chinese-government controlled private equity firm. That's not jingoism on conjecture, it's fact (Primavera Capital Group).

Regardless of the debate on the success / failure of test-focused outcomes, there is plenty of room for discomfort about a curriculum unabashedly shaped by a foreign government that, at best, sees things materially differently than many American families.

People on here seem to have a big stake in making sure Basis doesn’t get too much of a good reputation 😂
