Most young people of all political bents are too overweight, too poorly educated, and/or too criminal/drug afflicted to get into the military. This isn't an "own." It's a disgrace.

I'm not going to read the entire thread because military threads are always full of bizarre comments.
Like this one. You can and will be kicked out for having a child without a "family care plan" that designates a willing caretaker for kids in the event of deployment. It has to have all the appropriate legal documents (power of attorney etc). They do not leave infants abandoned in their crib, ffs. And, it does provide life insurance for kids left behind from people being killed in combat.
What people don't really understand is that we have very few people killed on deployments now because we have better medical care for combat wounds or massive injuries. Tbh, a soldier getting their legs blown off in combat has a better survival rate than a person getting their legs cut off in an accident in the states. We do not have the medical items here that the military has there. This has increased costs significantly because people who would have normally died now live and have a lifetime of medical care ahead of them.

It’s still very competitive within the natsec space to get a nsc placement.
The numbers are down for applicants to the foreign service but it’s still quite competitive to get in.

You've also turned it into a paper pushing exercise. Death by powerpoint. Plus, you want an inquiry for every fire fight. Seriously, you want to judge every shoot as good or bad shoot (in the heat of battle) and then punish according to that. It's ridiculous.

The poster I was quoting said that single parenthood is harming the military. If that’s the case shouldn’t the military have an interest in not contributing to their own downfall? Do whatever you do to soldiers for sabotage.
Personally I think this whole question is faux outrage but since the PP is so concerned by the damage done by single parenthood I’m sure he wants to find ways to avoid it.

This is not an American problem. It is across the 5 eyes and most Western European countries. Only ones who see to be solid are Eastern European and they do not have volunteer service for the most part.
