FWIW, I'm shorter than you, and my DH is 6'2", but I didn't pick him thinking about the imaginary kids we might have one day. It just happened that way. I have told DH that if we were both on a dating app, I would've filtered him out due to being too tall. Thankfully, neither of us had a dating profile. We met at work. He's dated short women before; both his LTR before me were with short women. I guess he just likes petite women.
Our kids are above average in height, though.

Women (and men) are screened by looks, weight, hair, voice, income ... why not height?
It is absolutely a valid prefernence to have. It may mean you never get a date with the person YOU find attractive. Or you may never get a second date with the person you do find attractive because you lied about your height.
