Cheap construction, ugly, no privacy, always some low class drama, and generally declines in value vis a vis inflation.
The builders are literally targeting people too poor to afford a home and cut every corner imaginable because they know the buyers are unsophisticated.
Have you seen new build SFH? You pretend like they’re made of superior quality when they’re basically made of the same cheap cardboard material 😂.
I swear, the people who act so superior have no idea what they’re talking about.
I love when broke people think anyone values their insights on real estate and investments. If you could do better, you’d do better.

Not everyone wants to be a suburb bumkin
Lots of nice sfh wotp, sweetie. But enjoy your shared walls and narrow floor plan.
You get the suburb feel while technically being in the city - worst of both worlds, congrats!
We get it, everything out of your price range is terrible. Got it. Keep projecting…

I guarantee many of these folks townhouse is worth more than your SFH is worth.
This! If we move to townhouse in old town Alexandria it will be more expensive than out sfh.
This thread really isn't about historic townhouses / rowhouses in places like Old Town or Capitol Hill or Georgetown.
It's about newer townhouses you see in townhouse developments. A townhouse in Merrifield is in no way comparable to a townhouse in the SE quadrant of Old Town.
