I think he killed Maggie so that she wouldn’t divorce him. His finances could not take the scrutiny that a divorce would bring. I think he planned on killing her but framing it as an accident. Paul witnessed that it wasn’t an accident and then he had to kill him too.

Paul was killed first.

His life was falling apart:
- his wife and song knew of pill problem
- his law firm confronted him that day about his embezzlement of law firm funds
- marriage was in trouble (see above)
- his son was awaiting trial for a death while driving his boat, where the son was drunk

- also, there are other suspicious deaths in his past. He is a liar and a con man.

But I still wonder exactly what happened.
Was it totally calculated? Is that why he called in Maggie to come to the house? Or was it all in a moment of rage?
Was she then intended target? Who did he shoot first, and why?
Did he shoot Paul first and then Maggie, because she was a witness? The other way around?

So why are you assuming he did it? The prosecution has no direct evidence.

The fact that you are willing to condemn an entire family you never met based on a Netflix documentary and Mandy matney’s biased “reporting” doesn’t show very good critical thinking skills.

Alex is clearly a bad apple. But that doesn’t mean the whole family is awful. A lot of people in Hampton county, black and white, poor and rich, will tell you many other people in the family did a lot of good for the county and were good people.

Stop making assumptions based on a sensationalist documentary. And the people extrapolating this to the entire south are being ridiculous. Is everyone in Italy a horrible person because some people are in the mafia?

Base it on the verdict then. Guilty.

The Murdaugh connection to the Stephen Smith murder seems like mostly rumors, but wow, could Maggie have been more detached in her 911 call about the housekeeper? And what did Alex do with all the millions he stole? As one of the interviewees said, he could have bought 114 years worth of oxy for a fraction of the stolen money. I feel sorry for those kids who were on the boat. They should never have participated in this series and put themselves out there like that; it will follow them forever now.

I think there is definitely something to the Murdaugh connection to the SS case. So much smoke there has to be fire and Mandy Matney has been pushing really hard on this case so I know she knows things she can't say (yet.)

I'm catching up on Mandy Matney's podcasts on youtube. It seems she is a big part of why finally the Murdaughs aren't able to keep covering up. I really believe Mandy knows connections between the Stephen Smith murder and the Murdaughs. I'm waiting for all the dots to be connected because of her work. I hope they exhume Gloria, the housekeeper. It's so suspicious that they took out an insurance policy a month before Gloria fell. I can't believe they kept all the money from Gloria's family, it's beyond disgusting.

Do we know for sure that that insurance policy was completely new? Ex my homeowners insurance turns over annually so at any given time I am at max 11 months from having “gotten an insurance policy” on my house.

To be clear I think the Murdaughs were/are guilty AF.

At the end of the series it states that he got commercial insurance on the property one month before she died.

Right. But was that for the first time ever?

Again, he’s guilty. Just wondering about this bit.
