DP - I also love the Maryland flag. And, yes, rural MD is very red, as is rural VA. One of the big differences (to me) is the overall proportions in the states - Maryland is much more balanced geographically and far more blue when it comes to population. Virginia has very blue areas in NoVA, balanced out by how large the rest of the state is. It ends up being purple because of the population disparities in NoVA vs. the rest of the state. So, you wouldn’t see someone like Youngkin elected in Maryland, where he was in Virginia. That stuff does end up mattering, at least to me.

Had family living in a small town in rural Carroll County and a Confederate flag flew near an old silo as you approached the town. I think the folks who live in the inner MD suburbs either forget or are ignorant about how "red" rural MD is.

Guys: Utopia does not exist. No where is perfect. Both are good states with different strengths and weaknesses. I like living in Md but also like Va and DC for different reasons. We are blessed to have so much variety and good choices in DMV. #BetterTogether

If you prefer more of a quieter bedroom community with less sprawl, Maryland is probably better. If you prefer more of a job center with more sprawl as a result, Virginia is probably better.Jul 27, 2022

Np, the reason it's so bizarrely weird is because it's state-based inferiority. I can only imagine how these individuals treat people that they view as superior. Your constant swatting and attempts to goad Marylanders into state fights while they mostly ignore you is a dead giveaway that you feel less than. Meanwhile, Marylanders view you as a housefly-- mildly irritating but for the most part, ignorable.

I live in Rockville and frequent Bethesda and the surrounding areas. Today on Rockville Pike was the first time I have seen a panhandler in a while.


Just curious. My post highlighted the OP’s claim that he almost got into 6 accidents in one day in Maryland (obviously a troll). Why are you quoting my post and then talking about seeing panhandlers. No one disputes seeing panhandlers but do you really think the OP almost had 6 accidents?
