Kids look up to these sports stars like Tiger. He knows that-- he can + should do better. He should not get a free pass for his behavior because he is a POC.

He could have given him a sun visor with a gopher on it, or he could have given him a Baby Ruth candy bar (Caddyshack). He could have given him anything other than an obvious symbol of his denigrating women.

NP - I was offended. Think about why he did it. He could have chosen just about any other thing to poke fun at his friend. But he chose a tampon - as if to say, 'you played like a girl' or 'you pussy' because that's where the tampon goes, right?

I would love it if every time he goes out, people throw tampons at him. And that every image on the internet of his face, turns into a tampon.

Anyways, even if it was a prank, they never intended it to be a public spectacle. It was supposed to be a private moment, but not for a high speed camera taking multiple photos per second. Id feel differently if Tiger had turned a more public moment into a tampon spectacle - eg handed him a box of tampons during the award ceremony.

Misogyny isn’t okay just because you keep it private. That actually makes it worse, because it shows you know it’s sufficiently bad that you shouldn’t do it in public.
