There are stories about his inappropriate behavior. Mainly during the height of his fame during Leomania. He and his group of thugs who went by an offensive name liked to cause chaos every where they went and engaged in some offensive and inappropriate behavior. Including propositioning reporters. Getting mad to the point of harassment at Elizabeth Berkeley turning them down. Not tipping, throwing garbage and food at people and making a disturbing home movie.

Clooney also had political aspirations and needed to be seen more seriously.
But I agree with you that this is coming from his camp. He's catching a lot of heat now for his dating choices .

Next move is for him to be single for awhile then like you said he'll magically be linked to some age appropriate woman who he shares interests with and has been quietly dating.

Don't know if they will push it to the point of marriage because he's always seemed to be not a marriage guy but maybe an engagement
