Yes-tour in person is important if OOS.

Be sure to try to register and visit for an official tour and let your College Advisor know it is the TOP choice (only if it actually is) and they might note that in the school letter.

Thx! The 4.0 includes a year of math beyond calc BC, physics C, AP foreign language (two years---literature and language), etc.
This kid has wanted Michigan for years. Not interested in the Ivies.

Math post calculus, language equal to post AP.

College counseling office isn't sure.

Will need to show UM is a top choice and not a backup for an Ivy application.

So what do you think the odds are with a 4.0 from a Big3?

Actually did anyone get in from any top DC private? I don't know of any.

I believe there are 4-5 Holton girls attending Michigan next year.

At least 3 from GDS attending Michigan next year.

Anyone know if they don’t include Freshman year grades in GPA calculations? I’ve always heard this but wasn’t sure if true!

A high flyer from a DC private with other options likely won't chose a public uni filled lots of Michiganders.

Sorry your first statement is just wrong. It is a big state school, but a lot more and very high-caliber. Ann Arbor is an awesome, quintessential college town. Just bring your winter gear and try to spend at least one summer there. Your challenge at Michigan as an OOS student is finding a community, both socially and academically, within a big place.

JR usually does well with Michigan but not this year at all. EA was rough all around.
