The slogan made by U Chicago students long time ago and it does not apply to the current climate of the university

I would have been worried as well considering it's where fun goes to die.

Tell me more about Brandeis and Haverford, planning to look at both, what do your kids like/not like

DC at Haverford plays a sport which has influenced her time there - she loves it, great classes and profs, lots of smart and friendly kids although all of her good friends are involved in athletics - she generally finds it a low key and supportive environment. She has enjoyed access to Philadelphia although finds plenty to do on campus, and she has not yet taken advantage of the consortium but says many students do.

DC at Brandeis is a more intense kid and quickly found a good group of friends who seem similar in personality She has a lot of friends from other countries (there is a sizeable international student body) which she loves. She hasn’t spent much time in Boston yet but likes the ability to do so. She’s been happy with lots of on canpus activities, shows, etc and has found it a seeious but stimulating environment which is right up her alley.

I’d say both schools seem to attract smart, nice, kind and welcoming student bodies. Haverford is much smaller and that makes a difference in the vibe.

Our freshman is very happy with Tufts. Really enjoys the community. Smart, friendly, interesting student community. Professors and classes have been interesting. Extracurricular opportunities have been great and they’ve enjoyed exploring Boston (go student discount!).

What is the obsession with top thirty? Who cares if the particular school doesn’t have a strong program in what you want to major in, or isn’t a good fit for other reasons. Weird post above re: WF, and that then one can say the attend a “top 30”.

Is WF top 30? Really? I haven’t looked at USNWR in a long time!

LOL. It is absolutely not. One of the posters above is pulling your leg

Tied at 29 with Florida and UNC

NP. I literally had no idea WF was ranked 29. Now I totally get why the middle of the road kids at our private ED rolling to Wake in September. It is the easiest top 30 to get into, right?

Yup. You can say I go to a T30.
Florida UNC UVA are also relatively easy for in-state
These are all good options if you can't break into T25.
(UVA is #25 this year), but not necessarily better than some schools outside of 30.

So T25 is really the first cut

Please tell me more. My child is in love with Duke and wants to attend. What specifically, does your child not like about the culture of Duke?
