If you do not admit that liberals have taken over colleges across US, you are delusional and do not live in reality. Same thing for news media. Everything needs something to balance in search for truth.
This. Zero chance of getting tenure if you are openly republican - even a Mitt Romney style republican. Sorry but DeSantis was totally correct about covid and is getting this right, too.

Good for him. Why should 99% of American universities be liberal?
Because most intelligent people want nothing to do with today's "conservative" movement.
Most of Florida voters said the opposite. That's why DeSantis is re-elected with a huge margin including historically Democrat counties. The liberals only live in echo chambers like most of the colleges and news media where only one conforming voice is allowed. Forbidding even a debate that Covid-19 may be leaked from a lab is one example how dangerous the one voice society has become. The cancel culture is now everywhere.
This exactly. We’re moving to Florida.

I don't remember "Turn New College into Hillsdale" as part of his campaign platform.
What part of "public university" do you not understand? As governor, he can appoint six board members to any public university in Florida. There are still liberal board members - but now there is finally a balance. Get over yourself.

Go ahead and call me maga, whatever that means. It’s the easy reaction when you encounter someone like me (and btw, I am not a fan of trump). So…instead of stomping around like a pissed off toddler, take a deep dive on the reasons he is proposing these changes. I am not seeing any improvement in race relations, in fact, I see things getting much much worse and the common denominator is people are looking for reasons to blame minorities. It goes both ways and the more attention we call to it, the worse it gets. Most people are not hateful, we can’t forget that so we need to stop constantly trying to divide the population in the quest for bringing us together.

Hampshire nearly shut down a few years ago, but is doing an aggressive money raising campaign to keep its doors open. Hampshire College will introduce a new, more traditional curriculum as the old "progressive" experiment failed.

Isn’t it fair to say, putting politics and ideology aside, that it really IS true that the school has struggled in recent years? While most good schools - and nearly all Florida state schools - have seen applications and admissions standard skyrocket, things have been stagnant / declining at NCF for years. Few students who are qualified for admission to top schools now are seriously considering NCF. UF’s standards are much higher now than NCF’s and historically it was the opposite.
I’m not saying that admissions standards are the be all and end all, but they do serve as a proxy for how a school is progressing. And with NCF being a state school and with a state’s budget being limited, why isn’t it fair for the state to take a look at what it might do to make NCF more competitive in the educational marketplace?
If that's really your concern "proud liberal," then you might be interested to know that enrollment increased 30% last year, the first full year the now-fired President was in office.
That’s good to hear. But does one year a trend make? And should an “honors college” have a 60 percent graduation rate?
I’m not saying that that a$$hole Desantis should turn the school into a right wing hell hole, but refusing to admit the obvious - that the school isn’t exactly thriving - isn’t helpful either.
New College of Florida is great for stoners who do not want to worry about grades and want to spend lots of time at the beach.
If you have ever visited while school was in session, you know that referring to the students as stoners was accurate. I am not criticizing, but I do not think that taxpayer dollars should be funding a beach camp for stoners.

FYI The Florida House Speaker is on the record that he wants to change that.
DeSantis is changing the Constitution that is why Dems needed to win the legislature UGH
