Jesus.
As an early elementary teacher this wouldn’t shock me. I’ve seen very young children full of rage that goes way beyond developmentally appropriate frustration.
and these kids are in normal classes, disturbing the other kids. My god, if this kid shot the teacher on purpose can you imagine how the kid might've treated the defenseless kids?

The kid in question was transferred from another school last year for supposedly strangling his teacher (in kindergarten). Since the first day of school he has had issues where hes been allowed to run rampent in the school. It got to the point where he was in trouble so often that his mom would have to walk him to the room each morning.
The day it happened the principal and them were notified that he had brought a gun to school numerous times and rumors spread about the same. They didnt do a thing about it. They said it was likely just a toy. No search, no pulling him out, nothing.
After the shooting happened a staff member called the cops because one of the other students recognized it as a gun shot. The lockdown didnt happen until well after the call had been placed. During the lockdown there wasnt a single message sent to all staff via email or text, most were left stranded in their rooms hiding with the kids for 45+ min. Its not clear to me how it happened but another member of staff was able to prevent the kid from doing anything further.
During the debriefing after no information was given about the teacher's condition or exacts about the situation. The school board and all the admins did show up for the photo op and show of support tho.
The teacher is doing decently enough for everything considered and the investigation is underway.
Huge shoutout to the Newport News PD, they showed up and responded in what seemed like record time and with everyone in the department (as well as a few other agencies).
I can verify my identity if need be but I am the spouse of an employee that was there. This was posted on a throwaway account on a vpn to prevent getting doxxed or anything from the district or anyone else.
So this kid is a sociopath.
I know that some people think that’s impossible- but I assure you, some people are born this way.
Some of them become high functioning sociopaths. But other- really can’t be saved.
Why we keep forcing our public schools to take them is beyond me. Teachers are not paid enough for this.
+1. So messed up. This kid will never be a contributing member of society or worth any amount of effort. Lock him away for life
As an aside, this is why it is worth every penny to move into a good school district. It is never worth the risks to send your kid to an underserved or developing school. So many parents complain about lack of diversity in some schools but I’ll take that lack of diversity any day of the week

School is only 26% white so not very diverse.

Nothing in the constitution to say that there can’t be really harsh consequences when someone’s weapons are used in a crime.
I think that’s the first step towards gun control.
too bad Rs want to allow anyone to carry a gun
No. "Rs" don't want felons to carry a gun. "Ds" are apparently just fine with it.
Then why did Rs fight Obama on preventing people with mental illness from getting guns?
Also, the Constitution doesn't say anything about felons not being able to buy guns. Since it explicitly states that everyone has a right to bear arms, why shouldn't a felon carry a gun? That 2A rights that you Rs support.

- the teacher had gone to admin about this kid multiple times
- admin told the teacher to handle it and suggested a bunch of "interventions" that are not doable when you have 25 other 6-7 year olds in a classroom
- the parents were not receptive to suggestions from the teacher or school
+1. I work in a public elementary school and definitely can picture a few students that fit this description and nothing would shock me about anything they did.
if schools used to move around rapist teachers , move around rapist students , why do you think they’d do anything about a potentially violent 6 year old?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I would bet every penny I have that at least 2 of the following 3 are true in this case:
