There was a toy store called Juvenile Sales in Annandale. I got all my Breyer model horses there.

At least twice per year my mother, sister, and I used to go to the Beauty Salon in Garfinkel’s at Iverson Mall. We loved shopping there with our mother. We were saddened when they were bought by Hecht’s. Did you ever modrl for Hecht’s afterward?

Hecht’s didn’t buy Garfinkel’s. An investor group bought Garfinkel’s— and ran it into the ground.

Yes, I’m still bitter. Shopping at the downtown DC store was a wonderful experience— even for a bookish kid.

Yes I remember I also worked at the Distribution/Transportation Center in Landover Md from 1983-1985… great bunch of people to work with and great company. Sorry to see that it was sold, renamed then went bankrupt. I miss all the stores… Dart Drug, Trak Auto and Crown Books.
