You're suggesting that the mail-in ballots are counted in the order they were received, but I don't think we know that that is what's happening.

It’s uncertain. Naimon and Zelaya said they don’t have any way of knowing when ballots were received.

True, but I think it's LIFO not FIFO.

DH dropped off his ballot before me, but I got the confirmation email before him.


When did you both vote? Before or during early voting ?

I spent my time getting republicans and independents to register as democrat so they could vote for Blair.

So they are going through the first mail in batch. 34,000 I think? Those came in before early voting. On Wednesday, they do provisionals. Which occurred during early voting and election day. Then on Friday they do batch 2 of those which are at least 27,000. Overwhelmingly they came in a ballot boxes during early voting. Some people think that batch 2 will mirror early voting totals, which heavily favored Blair.


This makes sense. I imagine within batch 1 it has not necessarily been in any particular order though there are probably geographical differences in where ballots are being counted from on any given day.

And yeah the people who hadn't already decided who they were voting for (less likely to be union members so it's less clear who will benefit them the most) didn't submit their mail in ballot right away but waited instead. My parents voted for Blair and they dropped off their ballots the weekend before election day - they took their time to decide who to vote for. So I can definitely see there being differences in the mail in vote from batch 1 to batch 2.

Sorry, did a reputable news outlet call the race for Elrich? Because they just updated the totals (I'm guessing provisional ballots) and the gap has now narrowed to 141 votes, about half of what it was (276 votes). Notice that for Council At Large only Evan Glass has declared victory, yet the other top vote getters are thousands of votes ahead of the rest of the pack. I don't think you all realize how close this race and the last two batches of votes have favored Blair. Nobody knows yet who will win this.
