The cost associated with the increased number of services required for each school is an unfair burden on local tax payers. Abbott is right about that. The federal government should either pay for those services of new arrivals or keep them in schools paid for by federal funds while their case is being reviewed.

What social welfare benefits do you think people who don't have status in the US are getting?
Free Public Education. IEPs. ESL. Free Breakfast and lunch. All those things add to to a hefty free social benefit
Public Education gets a lot of its funding locally via property taxes etc. And guess what, those illegals pay in to the property tax by renting properties. So it's not actually "free" to them.

Streamline asylum cases, too many economic migrants are breaking the system for those true refugees.
Repeat trespassers tagged and never let in and insta-deported.
Tax all remittances.
Fine employers of cash job black market employees. Find and deport tax fraud employees.
Deport anyone with fraudulent or stolen/purchased ID.
All states must require written drivers test and behind the wheel test to convert any other state or international drivers license to a U.S. state one.
Start a Highly skilled migrant visa program to for educated immigrants to self -sponsor. Similar to England (get background check deon, interviews, biometrics, health exam sent, bank accounts, submit resume and college transcript, take toeffl English exam if required)

Companies not hiring illegal workforce would be another deterrent but it seems like there’s too much interest in cheap labor.
Landlords will also rent for cash…
So I think schools are the only real way
Montgomery County basically now has an entire ‘underground’ economy based on cash. Illegal rentals have proliferated. Landlords are making a killing. They buy SFHs and put in multiple boarders, who pay in cash. Landlord has no rental license, pays no taxes, etc. and often funnels the money overseas.
Undocumented immigrants can easily obtain fake licenses. For example: https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2018/10/woman-allegedly-sold-fake-documents-to-help-people-qualify-for-md-licenses/
Lots of people driving without any auto insurance.
Being an undocumented immigrant in a sanctuary county is quite appealing and there are lots of ways MoCo makes it incredibly welcoming.

There's also a very good chance these people were NOT willingly in that truck. They may be part of a human trafficking ring for forced labor or prostitution (read: slavery).
Republicans specially the ones in Texas are all over that stuff. Abbott would never end that type of trafficking.
Abbott really screwed the pooch this time.
How so?
I just regret that Abbott isn't still having trucks inspected at the border.
If the truck crossed carrying the migrants, they would have found them.
This is on Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas. The incompetent Three Stooges.
+1 million
And the dozens of hundreds of other Democrat politicians who push for more acceptance of undocumented immigrants. Simply to increase their work force of cheap labor.

Chilling new details emerged Tuesday in the Texas border horror that left at least 51 migrants dead — including how victims stuffed in the truck were allegedly sprinkled with steak seasoning to mask their odor.
A law-enforcement official said many of the estimated 100 people jammed into the tractor-trailer in San Antonio appeared to have been covered in spices to cover up the smell during the human-smuggling tragedy, according to the Texas Tribune.
A cry for help coming from the 18-wheeler that was found abandoned on the southern outskirts of town Monday evening led to the discovery of “stacks of bodies’’ inside the vehicle, officials said.
Bodies also were found for blocks around the truck’s location, suggesting that some of the migrants had tried to make their escape while the vehicle was still moving, the San Antonio Express-News said.
The illicit rig had apparently been made to look like a properly registered truck in an effort to evade detection.
The truck was “cloned,” said the owner of a local Alamo-based trucking company to the Express-News — with it painted to match one of his own, right down to copying his legal vehicle’s Department of Transportation registration number.
“Our reefer [refrigerated trailer] is sitting right in the yard,” said Felipe Betancourt Jr., who owns Betancourt Trucking with his father. “That one in San Antonio is not our trailer.”
While the truck in San Antonio was made to look like a refrigerated truck, “There was no visible working AC unit on that rig,” said San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood.
The truck had apparently suffered a mechanical failure when it was abandoned — with the driver nabbed trying to flee the scene on foot, cops told the New York Times on Tuesday.
The truck driver was apprehended by authorities in a nearby field and taken into federal custody, police said. Two other men also were arrested. Authorities said one of the suspects is an American citizen.
Authorities said the truck crossed the border in Laredo, 150 miles south of San Antonio. The truck then passed through a border checkpoint on Interstate 35, said Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas. It is unclear whether the migrants were in the truck when it apparently cleared the checkpoint.
