I’ve learned a lot of lessons since moving to dc 20 years ago. I was beside myself at the school Christmas pageant- until I realized how much it meant to the community I wasn’t really part of. We are talking generations going way back. Sometimes you gotta let things go and just learn from the moment.
It gets complicated. This is a community rife with antisemitism. Not sure what the answer is.

And you wonder why Democrats are going to get crushed in November. I'm sure Laura Ingraham will lead with this on her show as an example of how ridiculous progressive liberals are.
I am an atheist liberal Democrat, and I completely agree! I will be upset when it happens but they will completely deserve it, both for this $hit and for what they did to kids during the pandemic.

Nope, I have no problems whatsoever with any fun children's games associated with whatever religion. I am also able to see the difference between a religious practice and a cultural tradition associated with a religion, and between a religious dogma such as the Virgin birth that plays a role in scripture and liturgy, and a symbol like the egg that, among many other contexts, can be seen as evocative of the birth of Christ.

So then are eggs the issue folks have... or is it the scavenger hunt aspect? We can roll eggs but not pick them up and place them in a basket? I'm trying to keep up here with what the panic is over.

Didn't burn the school down when I heard my kid made latkes with the librarian back in December and wont burn the school down Friday when my kid searches for plastic dollar tree eggs in the school yard. After a year of being home during the pandemic I wanted him back in school smiling and laughing with his friends and teachers. I'm so grateful it is happening and that he can participate in activities we don't have at home.
