We took him to an endocrinologist and I'm glad we did - turns out he was actually in the 5th percentile (not 2nd; he wasn't being measured correctly at the ped) and she has no concerns and does not recommend growth hormone, which is great. Now I don't worry about it as much - he's likely to be short, but as long as he's healthy, that's ok with me. I do think it was worth checking out rather than wondering though.

This is part of why health insurance is so expensive. No indication at all there is anything wrong with the kid but yes, go to an expensive specialist and run a bunch of expensive tests, just to see.
