I am writing this bc I think all this school idolization is problematic. ITDS is fine if you have a normal kid with a good teacher, but if anything isn’t just right, you won’t get help from the admin. They just don’t care about your kid

It's not idolization to be happy with your kids school.

I have extensive experience in the DCPS/charter world (in a professional capacity) and I am very discerning about where I send my children. I don't think ITDS is perfect and sure the admin drops the ball sometime, but I still am very happy with the school overall and have no real complaints.

ITS parent here. If masks aren't gone after spring break they'll certainly be gone by next year. Half of parents and teachers were already comfortable axing them when the school did a survey a few weeks ago and sentiments will only get more accepting.

If you get in for pre-k you should be excited. The pre-k teachers are all wonderful. They're legitimately great people who've handled the nuttiness of pre-k in a pandemic exceptionally well.

I don't know that the community is any better or worse or more unique than any other school, but I find it to be very positive and full of totally normal people. You'll probably never meet the handful of angry folks trolling around on this thread.

I have no clue if your kid would need to mask, it may depend on vaccination and their age. It seems like ITS goes with the majority of teachers' opinions but I don't know what that would be.
