Yes, more California Love would have been amazing! Loved MJB and Family Affair was phenomenal! My teens were mortified at dh and me dancing around.

X1000. Altho this site isn’t the demographics for those artists.

Lol.
I’m 47.
These songs are part of the soundtrack from my prime.
But they don’t lend themselves to a super bowl show. Too bad Mary J didn’t sing one of her hits.
You just proved the point by not getting Family Affair is one of her biggest hits.
I know it was a hit.
But Real Love was the bigger hit. And more fun. The beat definitely would have been better for a dance performance.
You literally wrote “too bad she didn’t sing one of her hits”…

+1

MJB was puffy/andre harrell's discovery. i know she worked with Dre on the No More Drama album (which is why i guess she sang that song instead of REAL LOVE)... but did they have her just to have a female artist on stage?
Snoop and Em are always a good time. Not a 50 fan, LOVED seeing Pulitzer Prize winning Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak always makes me smile (i know he and Bruno will be play-fighting about who had the better Super Bowl Halftime drum solo).
I'm 40 and all of these artists mean something to me. Not necessarily my favorites, or even my favorite halftime show, but this was a moment for me. I enjoyed it overall.
Now, to look for proper MJB concert tickets so I can enjoy her catalogue.
