Nowhere near the highest covid infection rates on a per/100k basis. Many Trump voting red states beat DC out by far.

That's been going on for decades. Young professionals love DC. But when they get married and have kids, when their kids start getting to school age, and especially middle school age they leave DC.

And apart from schools, part of DC's problem is also that it doesn't have enough family-sized apartments.

This. The vast majority of people would move for MoCo schools not NoVa schools. Besides TJ no one in DC really thinks, cares or talks about other NoVa schools.

Arlington agent here. I had an open house yesterday in Arlington and 30 of the 61 couples who came were from DC. All had at least one child in tow. Without even asking all said they were moving to Arlington for schools. I cannot discuss schools, but I got an earful about the DC public schools. I am sure that for a certain type of person the DC schools make, sense but in a very lengthy real estate career, I would say about one third of my listings each year are sold to people moving from DC and I represent an equal number of people moving from DC to buy homes in Arlington. The only time I have had people leave Arlington for DC schools was to be closer to Georgetown Visitation, St. Anselms, or National Cathedral.

It is mostly Alexandria and Arlington.

It is definitely not happening in Alexandria public schools. They're not any better than DCPS, and Ward 3 schools in DC should be far superior to anything in ACPS. Here in DC, we usually have the impression that Arlington might have some good schools but they're overcrowded. Again, probably not better than Ward 3 DCPS schools. The sole exception would be TJ, which might have been worth it in the past.

Conclusion: OP and this PP (if they are different people) are not DC residents, are not even local, and probably don't own this hypothetical restaurant. Simple local knowledge suggests we have a troll amongst us.

As a DC resident, I'm not going to be a good authority at all! I just meant that the weakening of test-in requirements would concern me. I think it probably doesn't bode well for the institution, but I don't have a direct personal stake since... I am not a Virginian. Access to a really selective TJ in the past seemed like a real plus. It is the only one in Virginia's favor that I can seriously credit. Otherwise VA holds zero appeal for me.

As if any of your progeny would have a chance of testing in TJ with high standards or relaxed standards.
