The closest library near me that has rapids is about 3 miles away, I still have streets not plowed, and they are usually out of tests in 1-2 hours after they open. But go ahead and display more “just” privilege.

Oh and I am at work during the 12-2 time slots the library has them. Was already going to be late for work picking it up at 8:30. I will try another DCPS site that’s not too far from my commute to work in VA.

Confused why you waited until the last minute to get the rapids? They have been available almost every day for a couple of weeks now at several locations. Honestly not going to fault the mayor on this particular part of her running of the city.

It has been stated many times that most reading sites are out of tests by 2pm, during business hours. So by time PP gets off work at 5, tests are gone. Why do you people or have compassion for the working class? Sure yesterday there were supposedly a few tests remaining at SE library but that’s after a week of tests being done by 2pm. You assume people have the time and resources to be connected to Twitter and know the one day that tests remained after 7 days of selling out? Like PP said, what happened to the equity DCUM always supposedly loves?

Dude - I am all for equity, and I think that the city has done a fabulous job making free rapid tests available to all. You know that kids who don't have tests will be tested at school when they arrive, right? Keep looking for reasons to be outraged, but honestly, COVID is one area where Bowser has really performed in a stellar fashion.

I think some people think it is theater because they want zero risk, and this protocol (or any protocol, or anything) will provide it.

Ok. I am decidedly not in that camp. Zero risk is sitting in your house and having no contact with the outside world. Daily testing plus masking and outdoor eating all seem like reasonable measures to take.

But it isn’t theater, post above says family discovered their child was positive and keeping him/her home. They can also monitor themselves and test. Reducing spread is good and will help end this faster!

I agree that reducing spread may be good for continued school operation, but how will it end this faster? Assuming Omicron will eventually have to infect almost every child for spread to stop, reducing spread will draw out the process.

In simple terms: If contagious people isolate and stop spreading it, the virus will not live on.
