Exactly. ECNL is not for your player if you don't have the bank account to buy it. Stick with local leagues and school ball if that is all you can afford.

If you don’t have $5-10k lying around. Then you probably have other priorities than ecnl level soccer. Any local league will avoid the travel costs.

It’s none of your concern. It doesn’t make your situation better. Focus on yourself

It's a soccer forum. It is for discussing soccer issues. If you have any useful comments to share, go ahead. Telling other posters what they are and are not concerned with is not useful or interesting.

It’s pay to play. It’s not free. We get it. It cost between 8 - 10,000 a year. We understand.

Now submit your approach to fix it or move on.

My kids been playing ECNL for three years. We’ve never paid anywhere close to $8k for the year. Where the hell is your kid playing?

It’s called the all in cost.

That's what I was referring to. No where close to $8K. Maybe $5K. Maybe.

Ikr? Only 5K. What family doesn't have that lying around?

It’s called payments and if you want more then you have get another job

All in cost is closer to 6K for us which is a lot better than 8k but still so much for for a darn soccer league. A lot of it is silly travel.

So the price of a car

LOL, interesting past few pages!

Couple things about the lower middle class or worse…

So it looks like a few posters here don’t realize just about every large club, GA or ECNL provide financial assistance to low income families. What they cannot provide is an Uber to and from practice for single parent families.

It also looks like posters don’t understand demographics or culture of many of our lower income families/demographics (which I am son of an immigrant). Many children participate in either travel AAU basketball or travel Track Clubs which both are quite expensive themselves. The big difference is where these clubs are located versus Travel soccer. Also, some cultures birth many children while most suburban families often have two children or less. A household with four children rather than one or two children will be under much more time and financial burden.

Common sense conclusion is that travel soccer is not a “privelage”. It is just less accessible in financially strained areas. Also, soccer is much less popular compared to other sports (American Football, basketball, and track) in these areas. Culture and the gender hierarchy also plays a part in who gets to participate in what with household that may have more than 2 children.

Oh..and then bail when it became clear that was no market for a second version of ecnl. Do your market research before you launch the stupid product, not after.
