I can't say I don't feel sorry for Hisahito but the way the IHA and Japanese National Diet handled the succession crisis by not allowing women to be eligible for the throne or at the very least keep their titles and their sons be eligible - makes it impossible to have any other choices.

They need to find a noble girl - preferably one whose familial background is extremely fertililiy-blessed and the girl herself isn't anorexic - so basically the opposite of Japanese societal norms - and choose her for him.

I imagine the IHA will, and have been, looking at the bloodlines of all the noble houses of Japan. Basically any girl between 13-15 right now in those families is being eyed closely - bonus points if her mom, grandmom, and all the way back to the great-grandma has had 3 or more sons. If he's lucky they'll wait until he/she are 20 to announce an engagement but I'm thinking he's got until he's 25 a most. By then his 81-year-old Uncle will be gone, leaving just Hisahito, his currently 61-year-old uncle, and his 55-year-old father.

I don't get why they're so upset/controlling. The laws governing the royal women of Japan treats them like trash and chattel to be discarded. They lose all status, title, and rank the minute they marry. So why would she care what the 'people' want, especially if its in contradiction to the man who loves her more than anyone else?
