Also the crowd who complains about losing childhood bc kids lose parties at school make me laugh and laugh. Maybe you could be more fun at home. And after a year of remote school, we can get back to writing and math.

Nope. The Halloween parade has been a tradition for decades. The run is something the current principal instituted.

Right, I didn’t say the Halloween wasn’t a tradition. Just that I don’t see it’s “cancellation” as a big loss.

A Fall Fest sounds nice. Why don't you like it?

I like the Halloween parade because it is a nice community building event that the kids and families all get really into.
If the community had a large number who would not participate it, I can see the benefit in moving to a different activity that would be more appreciated.

They are still losing school time. They are just losing school time for a cause, rather than for a Halloween parade.

I don't understand why people are so up in arms about having their kids wear their costumes at school for a silly 10 minute parade around the playground.

I don’t really care if they wear costumes or even turn it into a fall theme instead of Halloween. I just wish they’d do it during school, not on Sunday with an entrance fee.

They need pics for their calendars.

My son went to a different MCPs elementary school where they did Halloween. I always felt bad for my girl dressing up like a leaf but they still had fun.

Why?

That sounds like fun, I would have loved dressing like a leaf instead of whatever craptastic costume my mom pulled together with stuff we already had around the house.

I think a lot of parents want to show everyone how creative they are and how adorable their little Larla is. Something that no one really cared about even 20 years ago.

You sound bitter and angry. I’m sorry you are still so sad about your childhood Halloweens.

However, it isn’t any different if parents have to dress their kid up like a leaf. Still the same thing for parents - pulling together a costume from stuff around the house.

Your post makes zero sense.

The only problem with this is that it is likely not an ‘approved’ cause.
