Seen it multiple times. Do we have a local police force?
This is a cultural thing. You need to stop judging and deal with it.
A few weeks ago I saw a group of them roll through a playground filled with children of various races and ethnicities. The kids were freaked out. The parents were even more freaked out. I saw nothing culturally defensible in putting Black or White children in danger.

You’re wrong. The data is clear that they are very safe.
The data doesn’t reflect accidents caused by these vehicles when they are bobbing and weaving through traffic![]()
Okay. So how many is that and how many compared to other forms of transport?

How many people in DC did ATV drivers kill last year? How many people in DC did bicyclists kill last year? How many people in DC did car drivers kill last year?
You tell me?
People killed by ATV operators in DC last year: 0
People killed by bicyclists in DC last year: 0
People killed by car drivers in DC last year: 37 (some of these were drivers in single-car fatal crashes)

IT IS ILLEGAL
So are rolling through stop signs and exceeding the speed limit, and both of those illegal behaviors are far more common.
Is that why DC doesn't enforce traffic and parking violations, because ATV riders are also breaking the rules? Must be easy to be a DC politician just collecting a paycheck while claiming nothing can be done about anything.
To be honest with you, I think it’s not politically tenuous to enforce traffic laws against Black ATV riders but not conversely against White cyclists and actually reducing the laws that apply to cyclists. So by creating an area of de jure lawlessness with cycling has necessarily led to allowing de facto lawlessness with ATVs. If they go after ATVs then the expectation would be that cyclists need to be ready for tickets.
Oh, I knew somebody would find a way to blame people on bicycles.
2 kids and a father were hit in a crosswalk on their walk to school yesterday, and it wasn't by a person driving an ATV, and it wasn't by a person riding a bicycle.
A DDOT study determined:
- 42% of cyclists violated traffic signals at intersections
- Most cyclists at intersections stop in the cross walk
So half of cyclists in DC break the law on a regular basis in a manner that puts others at risk to their safety. I will take you seriously about ATVs when you take that seriously.
