But only abroad. Soooo many people are still going ahead with domestic travel and that will be the biggest culprit now. But no warnings on domestic travel.
That’s going to likely become a state by state decision, plus banning domestic flights will do little. People can still drive
At this point if people are too stupid to see the dangers in ALL travel, then we as stupid nation deserve what is to come.
Everyone needs to stop acting like idiots that require a ban in order for us to stop travel. We are a first world country with excellent education and pride ourselves on our critical thinking skills compared to rote memorization yet we are too dumb to see the writing on the wall here.
THANK YOU!!!
I can't believe there are idiots still asking about whether they should travel for weddings and dates. Corporations are making decisions to forgo millions upon millions of dollars of revenue which is very atypical of businesses. They're doing so because stopping the spread is the #1 priority right now and rightfully so. And yet you have selfish, dense individuals coming on here asking if they should attend weddings, stay in hotels, etc. No, No, No. Stay home as much as possible. Stop being an entitled, selfish moron.
Typically, I wouldn't use this type of language, but there is no reason to think your personal convenience should trump public health concerns.
Because people are trying to figure this out with little or conflicting information. I appreciate what you say about corporations but is the name calling really necessary? Everyone on this board is trying to figure this out and it's confusing. Weddings are important events for many people even if you think people should not attend provide some real information instead of calling people selfish and entitled. You are not helpful.
Although I doubt the effectiveness of swaying opinion via an anonymous message board, this article is the most measured take I've seen on how Americans should try to switch their perspective from focusing on themselves as individuals to thinking about the collective good.
"One of country’s most cherished ideologies is a belief in the power and centrality of the individual: that every person succeeds or fails because of their personal effort, or grit, or stamina, and every person deserves whatever success or failure follows. Or, slightly less charitably, the idea that everyone’s first priority is looking out for me and mine — and the idea that if you’re fine, then everything’s fine.
Apply this philosophy to a pandemic that’s spreading across the world, and you get what’s happening right now in the United States: I’m fine — or I will be fine — so everything’s fine."
"But we also have to start thinking about how our habits, our compulsions, and our desire to keep living life completely as usual — because there’s (seemingly) nothing wrong with us — will have ripple effects that will almost certainly lead to other people’s deaths or significant illnesses."
"And so — and I say this as much to myself as to all of you — we can change our behavior to lessen the risk we pose to other people.
Limit your travel; work from home if you can. Making sure you don’t pass the virus on to someone who might be more severely impacted by it is the most important way you can help. "
