I don't think anyone denying that, but obviously the 5'9 Draw taker is going to have the advantage over the 5'3 Draw taker right, specifically at 7th grade level.

It’s called having 90 girls at tryouts and picking the most athletic

Did they really get 90 girls at their tryouts? That's a lot.

Not only that, but tryouts were over the course of many days for 3 hours.

Some of the most impressive, skilled, athletic girls in the NGLL A division are not tall. Maturing faster than your peers is a short term advantage.

It’s not about the tryouts. They have built a system with great coaching and top players from all over and they go recruit who they want to add all year long. There are no surprises coming out of tryouts.

So its about tryouts yes, they pull from all over. Its not about "agility and speed workouts".

Its the M&D system of pulling kids from 8-9 counties and soon from other states. Those that can't keep up go to Red.

I guess the other PP meant that it’s not the tryouts that you pay to show up to with 90 others, you’re trying out when you play against them and they offer you outside of tryouts if you’re dominant.

How tall do you think is tall for girls at this age? 5’3”?

For a 2030, tall would be 5’7 or above

That is tall for any age.
The average height for a girl in USA is 5"4.

Ok, but I am just answering your question. There are several girls on M&D, MDU, etc that are well above 5'4, they are what I would identify as "Tall". Not sure what answer you want. 5'3 as a 12 yr old is good height and no doubt tall amongst the peers in a classroom, but there are several that are much taller in high level lax.

Not looking for a specific number. We can all agree that M&D players are taller than the average 2030 lacrosse player.

Yes, and older.

I don’t know any girls on M&D and I’m not trying to disparage any of them, but my impression is that there are a lot of pretty small players but they are almost all very fast.

M&D is huge in terms of height and just size. More than a few. They are just a great team.

Their strength isn’t size or height, it’s speed. They are noticeably faster than their peers. They also have shorter than avg players.

Take a look at who is doing their draws and how they win their draws and tell me their size is not advantage on DC.

They got size and speed.

I think you missed my point. There are certainly tall girls on the team but they are good because they are fast and tall. There are no slow tall girls on the team. MDU has more tall girls but they didn’t appear to be as fast.

I think you may be missing the overall point, when people say "they have lots of tall girls" they are really saying those are holdbacks. Is that reality? I don't know, but that is what is being implied.

Meanwhile, 2 of the tallest girls on DD team are 2 of the youngest. And the shortest player is the 2nd oldest.

Similar circumstances on our team.

Same, the 5’9” girl on our 2030 team just turned 12. I wouldn’t make too many assumptions about the ages of your competitors based on heughts. M&D always beats our team because they are better at playing lacrosse, there is no cheating that I know of.

Not aware of this being a thing in girls lacrosse.

It definitely happens in girls lacrosse. Wait for a USA Lacrosse tournament where the age restrictions are in play. You will see teams with missing key players, or not entering at all, because certain players are too old.

They just don't enter.

Is it true that M&D has 3-4 girls who would not be eligible by age?

This would certainly be a revelation to me, but I didn’t actually think this was a thing. According to this thread, it’s becoming normalized.
